I’ve mostly enjoyed Freedom Wars in the time since I nabbed it in the last PSN flash sale, but when you get to a certain point, the game seems to realize its Achilles’ Heel and instead of skirting around it, revels in it and makes you suffer as much as it can get away with. I’m planning to do a comic on the game, still, but good god is the human on human combat element is horrible. It comes to a head when you take the Code 7 exam and need to fight Natalia “9” Woo and her entourage, who tend to space themselves neatly between respawn points, eagerly stun locking you with laser guided precision. IÂ wound up winning by totally cheesing from a camping spot in the center of the map.
I’d still hit it though. Probably even harder now.
