I keep meaning to stay more on top of posting here, if for no reason other than to give the hypothetical 3/2 SUPERFANS an exclusive pipeline of extra dumb jokes for keeping it old school with me.
Sometimes, it takes months for something I write to make me cringe a little, but honestly, that time I was doing it halfway through “with.”
Anyway, apologies! I have still been doodling in my down time between work and other work and recuperating from work and I’ll do the usual gallery dump at the bottom of the post. Just wanted to pop in and give a few updates with the year coming to an end soon and all.
The holidays have come and gone, I’ve got some stuff to build, a new mattress and bedding that was *super* overdue and hopefully will mean less pain in the months to come. I’ve been fighting burnout and getting some really good, enthusiastic praise off of some gift art actually helped make some headway to wanting to do stuff again. I hope to finish up my pending requests by New Years and ride the momentum a bit.
Girls Frontline 2 is finally upon us and it’s… not bad? It’s strange how much lighter it feels even though the Commander is in an objectively worse place. The first game has been going for a long time even though I haven’t played in months due to feature bloat, and it’s kind of sad to see the recent MICA games get more Genshinesque monetization. The basic gameplay of GFL is mostly just gated by resources you gather free over time, with the cash shop used for cosmetics and speeding up base building, even getting new characters was pretty doable as a F2P. I gripe about all this but it really is a perfectly fine strategy RPG that keeps skirmishes kind of bite sized and focuses on a smaller cast of more distinctive Dolls.
In sadder tidings, not long after I wrote that big gush post about Alchemy Stars, the game is going to be going offline by the end of January with a final update for existing players to keep their data on their devices. They had a little farewell event that I live streamed and totally didn’t cry during. Still kind of sucks that there are so many loose ends in the story and that a game still sitting at a 4.7 in the app store can get the plug pulled, but at least the devs are taking steps to let players preserve the data. It doesn’t sound like it’s as thorough a job as Rockman X Dive Offline, but there really isn’t another game like it so I’m glad it’ll still be possible to load it up and play it if I feel like some time.
See you later, Navigator…
