Man, what a weirdly frustrating day. Maybe it’s the way I rearranged my working area, or maybe it was attempting to use MyPaint as part of an actual process and not just a sketching/warmup tool. Today I wound up continuing my Slayers kick, as well as tossing in a friend’s old Slayers-based fan character, Mina. I need to mix it up a bit from here though, as much as I like messing with the character designs and trying to slowly warp them into my style.
Going back to the technical issues though, it seems MyPaint is like the *one* drawing program that doesn’t warn you when you import line art and work around it that you’re losing your layers when you just save, and not ‘save as.’ So that was a major kink trying to color and finish Mina. Still, I love how smoothly MyPaint blends colors, I bet it’s gonna be awesome for background work to take over to the other programs. I still recommend it and FireAlpaca pretty handily as free drawing tools, just beware MP is kind of better for just screwing around and getting ideas out.
