So, stuff worked out okay with work and I took a friend up on a spare PAX pass. So for probably the first time ever, I’ll be attending a kind of popular and relevant venue! Hopefully I won’t evaporate on contact with the current-ness of it all. I’ve got my laptop and something to draw on so I should still be able to stick to my sketching shtick, though posting will probably be at the whim of hotel and Sprint internets, so if I “miss” a day, don’t get the penalty ice water ready prematurely.

I never really got around to finishing it and discussing it in any real detail, but I played Macross 30: Voices Across the Galaxy after I had pretty much maxed out Triangle Frontier on the PSP. I didn’t really like it as much overall, I think mostly they sort of set out to do different things with the same basic engine- the Macross Frontier games just aim to provide quick fixes of action and re enact moments from the series for fans, while 30 wants to be its own thing and kind of forfeits some of the fanservice in the process (no Destroids, playable SDF’s, limited array of enemy mecha unlockable) and replaces them with a open maps (yay!) and an array of fetch quests and crafting (boo.)

About the best things to come of it in my opinion: Aisha Blanchett, the YF-30, and these awesome roving bandit Zentraedi Battlepods with shark-teeth painted on. The first time one came running up to me in a cave, I just went “YES. THIS IS AWESOME.”

2015-03-01-keiLemme get something off my chest-

I like Dirty Pair Flash. Yeah, the 90’s re-imagining. Well, to be fair just the first two out of three ‘seasons’ of it. The third set of OAVs was pretty horrible fanservicey, unconnected episodes capped with a decent finale that mostly just served to make me go “why wasn’t the whole OAV like that?”

I’ve kinda wanted to take a crack at redesigning a few outfit designs from old favorite shows of mine. Honestly, I don’t know what the best look for Kei would be, but her weird not-quite-shorts from Flash were kind of distractingly weird to me. Actually, I liked her street clothes better than her WWA battle getup. Oh well. Remember 90’s Spirits and all that.
