Post PAX Sketch Dump

Wow, another year’s PAX has come and gone. It was a great time, though of the three of us rooming together I was the only one not to get sick. There wasn’t really as much upcoming stuff as prior years, some of the major releases like Nier: Automata and the Switch had already debuted, but  with the Zephyr Studio guys at their table. One of my favorite parts of the whole experience though was Blaster Master Zero being released shortly before my trip out began, so I spent the weekend picking at it off and on before finishing it for the first time on the plane trip home. Kinda fitting. It’s a very solid game, keeping in spirit of the original. Also I had the unique pleasure of ‘breaking’ a couple demos, one by being too good and the other just because the game was in a very early state. Best of luck to the devs of the latter, they were very good sports about when I was driving a motorcycle underwater with a lit torch in hand. Once the surprise wore off he just said, “I think we should start the Olympics this way from now on.”

I have a bunch of photos, too, but I’ll add them on later when I get around to hooking my phone up to the computer.

Slayers Week Masterpost (also SaD Sketch Dump)

So to recap, there was a little fan event going on over at Tumblr where people would submit fanart/fiction/other along a set of themes that I rather liked because they weren’t the usual “look how cute these two are together” material that fandoms seem to be all about these days (“wouldn’t Attack on Titan be amazing if it were less about attacking titans and more about the boys kissing each other and sitting in coffee shops with nice scarves?”) I was happy to participate and managed to turn in a solid week of color works without getting lazy! (Although I did submit one drawing too early and another I postponed because the sketch was looking wonky.)

So here’s all of them in one handy post since I got more than a few Slayers fans among my followers~

Happy 3/2 Day!

Slayers Week continues with days 3, 4, and 5- Day 3 was just about Filia, so I decided to at least try for an action pose since I imagined most other participants would be drawing her being floaty and pretty and generally non…actiony. The next day was more open, with a theme of Spells. I decided to go with Raywing since it always seemed like a particularly useful one in the series- not only is it good for high speed flight, it also allows the user to go underwater in a bubble of air that can be expanded large enough to carry others AND offer a degree of protection with its wind barrier. Finally, Day 5 went back to a character focused day for Gourry, so I went with a sword stance that looks more like he’s about to swing a ball bat. Whoop.

Friday Night’s Alright for Catch-Up

Been on a bit of a kick of trying to tweak and refine my Ether character design. Busy week, really. I did a set of emotes for Toad on Twitch and working at tiny resolutions has got me kind of fired up to try pixel art again. I also may have some drawing assets for a friend’s video project soon. It’s felt pretty good to have people interested in my stuff. I hope to do a little overhaul of the site soon to push my illo/commission info a bit harder as I’d like to get some side cash flow going this year. On that note, I do have a Redbubble store now as well, though the selection’s a bit limited as I look for pieces I’d like to upload or polish to make uploadable.
