Sketch-A-Day 019- Progress In General
I’ve been working on a new [+/-] strip for reals. Man, it’s easier to sketch things out in SAI. It behaves a bit more like ‘real’ tools which is good and bad since I’ve never been great with actual paint. The only drag is it seems to have a harder limit on max file size, so I’ll probably still have to patchwork the individual ‘pages’ together into one long strip. Hopefully I can finish that up this week and make my ‘at least monthly’ guideline for that series.
Here, have a warm up sketch of a character in a game I don’t actually play.
Sketch-A-Day 018- Waaaaarm
A pretty accurate depiction of how I deal with damp, cold, achey days like today. Like, in all seriousness, cold and snow don’t bother me as much as “kinda” cold and wet conditions. Only thing that helps is to kill the furnace and sit next to a space heater.
Also, hey! I’m getting a shot at visiting PAX East! I’ll probably be wandering around looking kind of spaced while wearing a jacket with Servbot pins on it. I’m not sure what the Venn diagram of “people who read this site” vs “people who attend PAX” looks like, but there surely must be some kind of overlap.
Right?
Sketch-A-Day 013- Inverse, Redux
Man, I can’t believe that picture yesterday turned out so bad after running it through ink and color. It was painful to have that up all day. God, someone still ‘liked’ it on the tumblr mirror. Thanks, still, but damn. Not my best! So I tried harder today, no time to color it since I need to crash for another 3AM shift shortly. Also take some unrelated warm-up sketches. I saw a pretty badass take on the Arwing from Star Fox while trying to google for official renders. It doesn’t look familiar, but I’m glad it strays away from the comically oversized cockpit domes they trended toward after 64.
Sketch-A-Day 005- Guardiennes
Still a bit under the weather, mostly took it easy today. Tried messing with posing characters by painting their outline first then drawing around it, kind of a neat technique even if I borked the proportions a bit.
Sort of an attempt to make ‘battlesuits’ for the girls, going for kind of a Guardian Legend thing as per my friend Cam’s suggestion when I asked what would be interesting to do. Truth be told, I already sort of had a “mecha-Eishi” idea in my head and was planning to do a graphic hack of a TGL ROM for my Twitch runthrough, but I didn’t really have the patience to figure out the tileset. IT’S NOT AS EASY AS RPGMAKER.
