Warning: Big Pic. I usually bring things down in size a bit before posting, but because I’m sort of showing off a new program I thought I’d toss it up as is. Plus I want y’all to be able to make out what’s in it and shrinking it to 500-600 px probably wouldn’t do the trick.

Productive day today, in spite of some really annoying lingering pain in my arm. To cap it off, I decided to try out a free drawing program, MyPaint. It was mentioned by Sycra in one of his Youtube videos and I was pretty satisfied with how it handles sketching and doodling, though I like the coloring tools a bit less. So if anyone wants to try it out, you can get it from here.

I like to practice with them since there’s no guidelines, erasing, or even really build-up of tones. It’s just INK or NOT INK, and I feel like it kind of forces me to think a little more before I commit to a stroke, and when I do it’s so smooth and slidey and mmmm…

Gatty, Beretta, “Speed”, Derringer and Daisy, along with some more details of the thing on Gatty’s arm. The upper ipod looking thing is kind of a combination health monitor and communicator usually hidden up the sleeve, and the lower gauntlet portion contains a drum-style container for vials of spare blood, along with a memory alloy plate to protect the thing or be shaped easily into different stuff. I need to mess with more technical drawing to really nail this kind of stuff, but the idea is two half-circle clips connect around the forearm and are rotated/chambered by the gauntlet for use. (Since her powers use her blood as a medium it becomes quickly apparent that jabbing a knife into herself isn’t a very practical way to win a longer battle.)

Also, been toying with a logo. I like the basic idea of the ‘magic’ star being there and split off for both the A and D. Not really married to a particular type style just yet.

Anyway, these are just warm-up sketches. I think I’m going to either mess with comic stuff or begin a Slayers Sunday drawing since that’s a thing now.
