A fucking overdone gag I’m not going to use.

Just a quick note here that I didn’t die in transit or crush my laptop or anything like that. I’ve finished moving into the new place, though between unpacking and settling everything in a little at a time and the SOUL-SAPPING humidity in the air, I haven’t gotten around to doing as much as I’d planned. I did get a Monday comic done though, and if I buckle down after the girlfriend’s grampa’s funeral this evening I can probably still make my 2-a-week minimal goal that I’ve been completely and blatantly ignoring.

(Been trying not to dwell on the OMG MY COMIC IS SO LATE stuff here since it really ends up rather off-topic to the usual discussion and apparently obnoxious enough to warrant as a ‘minus’ in some people’s books.)

I’ve also at least started a feature on the new Transformers Animated series, which, as per Teen Titans before it looked like insufferable over-stylized sheist but has built up to be one of the more interesting re-re-reboots of the franchise. The Season 2 finale of the past weekend was especially awesome. I AM OMEGA SUPREME!

Speaking of cartoons, you can apparently find the GaoGaiGar DVD set for 25 bucks at most Best Buys now. Considering it was 19.99 per individual volume before, I say CHARGE. The only drawback is the fact that it’s only half of the series so far- AnimeWorks put the series on hold ostensibly to focus on their Voltron releases, leaving GGG waiting for an eventual, subtitle-only release of the rest of the series down the line. Gurren-Lagann seems to have taken the opposite approach, and is all the better for it- three sub only volumes of 9 episodes apiece, with the dubbed/bilingual discs coming out some time next year.

(you should also probably really watch Gurren Lagann if you haven’t already cuz it’s like the craziest best over the top mecha anime ever)

Til next time, KEEP WATCHING THE SKIS

As we speak, my DVD’s, games, and the consoles that run each are in boxes on the other side of town. Normally I really only touch the systems in moderation- any more most of my home time is spent writing and trashing drafts of articles or scribbling furiously. But as soon as those things were put out of reach, I have a burning itch to play NeoGeo Battle Colosseum or Smash Bros. Brawl to excess. That said, I was smart/addicted enough to not pack my portables, and though my PSP is sitting there, nice, shiny, and full of Disgaea Portable, it’s FFTA-2 that’s got me by the hair. Seriously. I played last night before bed until I started to nod off and lose my grip on the handheld, then woke up and wheedled about two hours away in bed.

That said, comic and content updates will resume soon, and with better regularity. I’ll have some dead time over the next couple of days in which to catch up. Thanks for bearin’ with me.

What’s the deal with FFTA-2 displaying elemental weaknesses in words rather than numbers!? It’s in blatant disregard of how long we’ve been trained to think about Final Fantasy stats in numbers, rather than outright saying a monster takes double damage from a certain element but absorbs another!

From what little I’m through in it it seems like it’s going to be a lot more in-depth than Advance was, which is good because it lets you personally undertake some of the ‘oddball’ missions that normally would have been resolved off-screen by a Dispatch– and speaking of which, the opposite is true and you can simply Dispatch troops to take care of boring ‘Destroy All Monsters’ quests while you work on digging around in the grass for Mushamallows.

Well, off to the cable company to prove that I exist! And need Comedy Central/Cartoon Network/History/Couple others.

Parish just emailed me about the old Izuna review, wherein I said:

If only Izuna had a tag-team function to let you swap spunky ninja girls on the fly.

Well, I meant to say something sooner but it kept slipping my mind, but apparently Izuna 2 does just that! Where’s my check, Success…?

The Short Version: Remember how cool that escape sequence from Metroid was? What if we made a game that did that eight times with sluggish controls and a hero with none of the perks and upgrades who loses health steadily from any sort of strenuous activity like walking? TOTALLY RAD! Also, Jesus, I use too many parentheses in the course of this review.
