I wound up not doing one of my Year in Review dealies for the first time in a long time, in part to not doing reviews on 3/2 (directly) so much lately. That and well, I just didn’t feel like looking back at it. I’m too focused on making 2014 suck less. I need to get over some personal hang-ups, take finding a real career more seriously, and more relevantly to all you guys, actually get more of my ideas DONE and stop turning them over in my head forever and ever.
So, having had the day off, I caught up some errands, doodled, and played The Guardian Legend for like three hours (quitting on Red Optomon because the cough syrup I took was started to imbue me with Darksydephil levels of coordination. It’s funny how I still have this stack of games that need finishing, but I can still go back and plunk time into something from 1987 and love it just as much, if not more than ever. Appreciating little touches like the Guardian’s jet mode thrusters changing their appearance when the scroll speed changes, or the placement of the Save Rooms before entering most major sections (thank you, emulation, for making writing down the passwords unnecessary, but they’re still handy checkpoints when you die)
Whatever. Fire Emblem Awakening was my game of the year 2013, followed by Shin Megami Tensei IV and Armored Core: Verdict Day. Everything else I basically blasted through as fast as possible so I could crack jokes about em.
