Signs, Signs, Everywhere I Signs.

Image intensive post, so this time I threw a cut in rather than drowning you all. Being a designer by training and always on the lookout for relevant applications of it, I do a fair amount of our store’s in-store signage (A large chunk of the photo dept.’s for grand opening, and various ad signs throughout the store when one is needed faster than advertising can accomodate.) Lately they’ve had me throwing together presentation booklets to show off the various new facilities they’re oh-so-proud of to other stores. (This is why many of my comics end up late- trying to do cubicle style work while standing up in a wide open area full of people who think I know where the diabetic peanut butter is.)

Actually, nobody probably cares, right?

Sora Amena(Sketch)
The ‘shrinemaiden’ in Panel 6 here is actually Sara’s sister, Sora. Aside from the initial cast (who sort-of grandfathered in) I’ve tried to avoid too many Japanese names in order to make the Western setting work better. Just another thing I failed at, huh? Anyway, such names are all kosher while in Xanang, a nation which is a probably-insulting mash-up of China and Japan.

The next two chapters will be pretty focused on Sara’s motivations for being well, an embezzling bitch. Sora is a money-grubber as well, but does it by holding a lot of odd jobs (Obviously, a priest with a combination axe/wand-thingy probably does some high-contact ‘warding…’) I was kind of worried about rushing things, but given the amount of pages that’ve been them standing around in the cabin of an out of control airship already, my ‘rushed’ pace is starting to feel like a better idea (and really, it does make the archives feel livelier when stuff happens more regularly.)

(God, how I abuse parentheses.)

The Agenda

The Agenda published on No Comments on The Agenda

The next coupla posts in the next few days are going to be a test run of the new review format and an attempt to reclaim some shred of my late 90’s-early 00’s ‘glory days’, not to mention finally post thoughts on various games I never got around to reviewing, mainly due to being too busy playing said games. Man, last year had some good stuff. With Bangai-O Spirits and Apollo Justice coming in early ’08, here’s hoping for another pleasant, but nonconductive to writing year!

Here’s a loose itinerary of what I’ve got planned for the latter half of January:

Front Mission

Contrapalooza: Contra 4

That Was Then, This Is Then Too (retro remakes special)

Gurren-Lagann DS

After which, I’ll be attempting to flesh out my own Game pages to try and see if anyone would be willing to lend a hand in bringing my bull to a Frankensteinian mockery of life.

Toodles.
