Had a real nice birthday yesterday, all around. Did I mention it was? Oh well.
Having gone on about it at length so much so far, I think I should at least dish on the quality of the new movie Transformers that just happened to hit the streets on the very same day.

Incidentally, one of the guys that was supposed to come in that ‘box of air’ came in the mail when I returned from DAS UBERWALMART. It was kind of tough restraining myself seeing all that stuff on the shelves… I didn’t think Wave 1 and 1.5 would be simultaneous.
I might go into the others later on, but so far Ironhide is my favorite of the trio I acquired. He fits the bill of the more ‘organic, alien’ TF design while managing to look more threatening and bulky than the majority that seem to lean towards insectoid, spindly bodies.
Aside from being mainly black and silver, he’s also got a few yellow highlights near the joints that really makes em pop.
And of course, I love the design of his weaponry. Normally, he has two four-barreled, chaingun-style guns stuck to the forearms, but they can be detached and combined into one long cannon, which also enables the missiles to be fired. It’s a pretty clever device, really. The missiles are stored in one half, the actual ‘firing cylinders’ are in the other, and they’re launched by pressing down on some fairly convincing-looking piston bits.
Gotta make sure you get the little side tab locked in, though. I attempted to shoot off one missile at first and the entire front half of the gun sprung off. Secret weapon?
