The second Slayers Week has drawn to a close, so here’s a masterpost of what I did for this round of fanwork.
Woo hoo, it has been a time lately, lemme tell ya. But in a good way. After a good while following, I was brought on board at Retrogaming Live, which has been a nice boost to my Twitch presence along with a chance to show off some of well, MyGames. I started off with a playthrough of The Guardian Legend, moving on to a recent rediscovered favorite, Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie and Metal Warriors. My usual spot will be Wednesdays, 3pm-5pm though occasionally I’ll be filling in for other casters. Lotsa good people to watch on that channel, give ’em a look some time!
I’ve been taking some bigger steps towards getting My Stuff in order after saying I was going to over and over, I’m going to focus on finishing up Irrgarten and starting a proper page for it, then possibly offering a PnP version through Amazon or some self publisher venue if the ‘demo’ goes over well enough. In bigger news, if I didn’t mention before, I’m finally going to be getting out of The Box and moving into a larger apartment at the end of the month, which I’m both excited for and a bit anxious when I realize I have basically *no* furniture and I’ve almost forgotten what having room is like. It’ll be nice being able to get a couch or something though, and not continue sinking deeper and deeper into my mattress while I try to get work done.
Sadly, I gotta confess in spite of the sketch dumps basically evening out, I *have* missed a couple days in my SaD challenge, but mainly due to working on requests and stuff. I usually prefer not to make gifts/commissions public unless the recipient is aware and cool with it, especially when like original characters are involved and such.
Hopefully soon I’ll have some Irrgarten news to share since I’m going to be trying to focus on the parts I’ve been procrastinating (new dungeon tiles and redoing basically the whole item list so there will be more ‘utility’ items like keys and less redundant special weapons.) The hero cards are by far the most fun thing to work on but I think I’ve got plenty of those, time to focus on ways to maim them.
Wow, another year’s PAX has come and gone. It was a great time, though of the three of us rooming together I was the only one not to get sick. There wasn’t really as much upcoming stuff as prior years, some of the major releases like Nier: Automata and the Switch had already debuted, but with the Zephyr Studio guys at their table. One of my favorite parts of the whole experience though was Blaster Master Zero being released shortly before my trip out began, so I spent the weekend picking at it off and on before finishing it for the first time on the plane trip home. Kinda fitting. It’s a very solid game, keeping in spirit of the original. Also I had the unique pleasure of ‘breaking’ a couple demos, one by being too good and the other just because the game was in a very early state. Best of luck to the devs of the latter, they were very good sports about when I was driving a motorcycle underwater with a lit torch in hand. Once the surprise wore off he just said, “I think we should start the Olympics this way from now on.”
I have a bunch of photos, too, but I’ll add them on later when I get around to hooking my phone up to the computer.
Well, the fated time is upon us at last, PAX East 2017! It’s actually been kind of a crazy time recently. People actually liking my artwork and asking for more of it, digging a deeper foothold into the Twitch community, Slayers week, signing off for a bigger apartment after years of living in what amounts to a terrarium… Making some changes, but as you can see, there are a lot of good ones in there. Unfortunately due to time and energy constraints, I’m *way* behind on the intended next draft of Irrgarten, but I have a solid direction I want to take it in and will probably hit it harder after I return and the pressure is off a bit. I’m just going to focus on enjoying myself and hanging out with some amazingly cool people for the long weekend. (It’ll suck just a bit coming back into town late then turning right back around to work at 5AM the next day, but it’ll be worth it.)
So to recap, there was a little fan event going on over at Tumblr where people would submit fanart/fiction/other along a set of themes that I rather liked because they weren’t the usual “look how cute these two are together” material that fandoms seem to be all about these days (“wouldn’t Attack on Titan be amazing if it were less about attacking titans and more about the boys kissing each other and sitting in coffee shops with nice scarves?”) I was happy to participate and managed to turn in a solid week of color works without getting lazy! (Although I did submit one drawing too early and another I postponed because the sketch was looking wonky.)
So here’s all of them in one handy post since I got more than a few Slayers fans among my followers~
